Boating Safety Organizations

United States Coast Guard, Office of Boating Safety: The U.S. Coast Guard's Boating Safety Division (CG-5422) is dedicated to reducing loss of life, injuries, and property damage that occur on U.S. waterways by improving the knowledge, skills, and abilities of recreational boaters.

Canadian Power Squadrons (CPS). CPS is a community of passionate boaters committed to safety, boating education and having fun on the water! It plays a major role in boating culture in Canada through its boating education, safety publications and other resources it provides to its membership across Canada. (MariTech Industries and CPS signed a 3-year agreement On October 24, 2007 to mutually promote safe boating in Canada)

US Power Squadrons. USPS is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. Itsmembers are boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education. (MariTech Industries and USPS entered into a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding on February 23, 2008 to work together in advancing our mutual boating safety initiatives)

US Coast Guard Auxiliary. The overarching mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions. (An agreement between our organizations is expected Spring 2008)

Industry

American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC): ABYC is a not-for-profit membership organization that has been developing and updating the safety standards for boat building and repair for over 50 years. ABYC is actively involved with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and is a leader in education for the marine industry, as well as certification programs for marine technicians.

National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA): NMMA is dedicated to creating, promoting and protecting an environment where members can achieve financial success through excellence in manufacturing, in selling, and in servicing their customers.

Government & Commercial

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA): NASBLA is the professional association representing the recreational boating authorities of all 50 states and the U.S. territories.  NASBLA’s mission is to strengthen the ability of the state and territorial boating authorities to reduce death, injury and property damage associated with recreational boating and ensure a safe, secure and enjoyable boating environment.
